The waiting, the arriving, the tiny everything
— caught gently, at your pace.
Maybe you're still waiting — counting kicks, washing impossibly small clothes. Or maybe the baby is here, and the days have gone soft and blurry with feedings and first everythings. Either way, the last thing you need right now is a production. No studio schedule, no props, no baby wrangled into a bucket. Just the light in your own bedroom, the people who already love this baby, and someone gentle behind the camera.

Yes — these are my grandbabies again, about a week old this time, photographed in the house they'd just come home to. The nursery wasn't finished. Nobody minded, least of all them. We went slowly, the way these sessions go: a feeding break here, a diaper intermission there, the dog supervising every handoff. And notice what you're looking at — newborn twins, at home, everybody calm, nobody rushed. So when I tell you we can do this gently with one? I've got proof of double.
Where — my tucked-away Talmadge studio, the beach, a golden field, or right at home
Who — growing bumps and babies under three months · partners, big siblings & dogs all welcome
When — maternity is loveliest around 24–32 weeks · newborns set their own schedule —anywhere in the first couple months is perfect, no rush home from the hospital
How Long — sometimes an hour, sometimes two, baby-directed in the case of newborn sessions
You Get — what-to-wear guide, polished gallery, simple ordering of framed delivered prints
Investment — maternity begins at $475 · newborn sessions begin at $600
"What is a lifestyle newborn session, exactly?"
It's the unposed kind. Instead of a studio production with props and buckets, I photograph your baby where babies actually live — in your arms, on your bed, mid-yawn in the nursery. Lifestyle newborn photography is gentler on the baby, easier on you, and twenty years from now it'll look like your life, not a set.
"Do you do in-home newborn photos, or do we come to you?"
Almost always your home — the bedroom light, the nursery you made, the good couch. If you'd rather come to my Talmadge studio, we do a family-style session there instead. Either way, all I need for in-home newborn photos is one window with decent light and the people I came for. And no, you don't need to clean. Nobody will ever see the laundry. I'm coming for the light and the love.
"Will the baby be photographed alone, or with us?"
With you — that's the whole point. Every session I do is really newborn photos with the family: parents holding the baby, siblings inspecting the baby, the dog supervising. If your little one is content near the end, we'll finish with a few simple swaddled moments solo. But the pictures you'll cry over in ten years are the ones with your hands in them.
"What if the baby cries the whole time?"
Then the baby is being a baby, and we pause — feed, rock, sway, try again. These sessions run baby-led with no clock, and somewhere in the first couple of months is lovely, but there's no deadline. The first weeks are a lot; we go when you're ready.
"When should I book?"
For a maternity session, reach out in your second trimester and we'll aim for that 24–32 week sweet spot. For newborns, the secret is to book while you're still pregnant — we pencil in your due date, then confirm once your baby decides on a real one. And if you're reading this with a three-week-old asleep on your chest: it's not too late. It's never as too-late as it feels.
"What do I wear? Nothing fits."
I know — 32 weeks is a cruel time to need an outfit. My style guide lands in your inbox the week we book, with bump-friendly links you can shop from the couch, and I keep a couple of gowns on hand at the studio if you want a backup. But honest advice from sixteen years of maternity photos: the best sessions happen when you wear something that's actually you. You'll hang these on the wall — you should recognize yourself in them.
"I'm pregnant and don't exactly feel like myself."
I hear this at almost every session, and after sixteen years I can tell you: these become the photos women treasure most. I'll guide you into things that feel natural and look like you — at the beach, in a golden field, or in the studio. Someday this baby will want to see the season they were part of you. Come as you are.
"Our three-year-old refused to wear shoes and our seven-year-old refused to smile, and somehow the gallery looks like a magazine about a family much calmer than ours."

One day, you'll swear they were never this small. The photographs will beg to differ.
