What kinds of sessions do you offer?

This completely depends on the location...and if we're working with kids! Here's the honest answer from a former teacher: magical light means nothing if your toddler melted down at four. For little ones, morning sessions are wonderful and underrated. We'll schedule around your kids' best hours, not the internet's suggestion (any location and time of day can be beautiful if you position it right!).

What time of day should we schedule?

Please! Dogs are family, and some of my favorite frames have a wet nose in them. Grandparents, new babies, the works — if you love them, bring them.

Can our dog come?

The week we book, my what-to-wear guide lands in your inbox — colors that photograph beautifully, what to skip, and links you can shop from the couch. Short version: coordinated, not matching, and everybody comfortable. You're a family, not a barbershop quartet.

What should we wear?

I'll do something better: I'll guide you. Where to stand, what to do with your hands, and then I start something — a walk, a pile-on, a bad joke — and photograph what actually happens. Nobody has to perform. "We're so awkward" is what half my clients say on the phone, and none of their galleries agree.

Where do you shoot in San Diego?

Everywhere the light is good: the beaches, the golden canyons and trails, wildflower fields in spring, my tucked-away Talmadge studio just past Kensington — or your own backyard, kitchen, and couch. I keep a list of favorite spots all over San Diego matched to the season.

Here's where I stand, mom to mom: I will never edit you into someone your kids wouldn't recognize. Every gallery gets my full natural editing — light, color, the passing blemish — and I photograph people at their best angles. Twenty years from now, your family wants you in these. (If there's something specific you'd like addressed, just ask — advanced retouching is available as an add-on.)
